Job Summary: Nursing Apprentice - PRN The Apprentice Nurse (NAP) functions under the supervision of a registered nurse and performs delegated basic nursing functions. Performs those tasks which he/she has successfully demonstrated in his/her program of education and has validated in the facility. Demonstrates knowledge of principles of growth and development over life span and possesses ability to collect data reflective of patient status and report to registered nurse. Provides care needed as described in department policies and procedures as defined in the State of Nevada Nurse Practice Act. Completes a competency skills checklist within 3 months of employment. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Graduate from high school or high school equivalent program; a high level of math and reasoning is required. Cu rrently enrolled and achieving passing grades in an accredited Associate Degree or Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. Must be ready to ready to take NCLEX exam within six months to one year. Current Basic Life Support. TESTING: Pass National League of Nursing "Nursing Assistant in Acute Care Setting" test. CERTIFICATIONS: Current BLS.
